What to bring / Where to buy
What we supply
Our camp kitchen is pretty well stocked with crockery, cutlery, utensils, kettle, pans etc. to cook simple meals and to barbecue, though if you have a favourite wok, knife or other cooking item it’s probably best to bring it. Note the kitchen has 2 hobs with a total of 6 cooking rings but no oven or microwave.

Slippers for inside the domes and Cwt ar y Bryn as domes and the hut have a no-outdoor shoes policy

Shower flip flops; if you prefer to use them

Torches for evenings as we are off-grid (not connected to main electricity, no plug points)

Extra tea, coffee and milk

Canteen/water bottle (our water comes from our own spring & is UV filtered. This destroys 99.99% of harmful microorganisms without adding chemicals or changing the water’s taste or odour)

Towels, including beach towels & an extra hand towel

Mosquito spray (we can get midges in the evenings)

Warm hats & sun hats (again, they help against midges though Tom doesn’t get bothered at all by them)

Your favourite family games

Bucket, spades & picnic blanket for the beach

Sunscreen – contrary to popular belief, this part of Wales doesn’t rain that much more than other parts of Britain😊!

Wellies – it can get a little muddy when wet

Warm clothes for the evenings

Bring a cool box & ice blocks if you’re planning on bringing lots of food that needs to be kept cool, as our 2 fridges may need to be shared between 3 families – you can re-freeze ice blocks in the ice box compartment in one of our fridges

It may be handy to bring a box to store your pantry goods like bread, pasta, tins of beans etc.

First aid kit

Wipes or kitchen roll & spray to clean our full-sized travel loos if you’d like one in your accommodation – wipes not to be put down any loos

What you can purchase from us
Further wood and kindling at a cost of £5 for a basket (our wood is either from our land or grown and bought from a small, sustainable, not for profit, workers co-operative 30 minutes away)
Barbecue coals for £3.25 for 2kg / £6.50 for 4kg – prices can change depending upon where we source coals and firelighters
If You Care 100% biomass Firelighters. Environmentally safe, they contain two ingredients only: FSC wood and non-GMO vegetable oil. 6 for £1.00
You can buy wood, firelighters and kindling at Brynhoffnant garage store or in Tesco, B&M or Aldi (try and get dry hardwood if you can as it lasts longer)

Fresh eggs from our neighbours “Parc Carnedd” & “New Farm Capel Gwnda” just down the lane. Turn right out of our driveway, Parc Carnedd is the closest (and often has seasonal, home-grown veg), on the left with an egg box and sign outside and New Farm Capel Gwnda is further down, approx. 10 min walk, on the right
Mark Webb & Son local butcher, 5 min drive in Rhydlewis, SA44 5RG
